Nature Fortified Abodes

The Dune Villa is Arranged to Inspire Life and Movement

HILBERINKBOSCH Architects designed the 'Dune Villa,' a "living" house located in Utrecht, The Netherlands. That is, it's a home that seems to come alive with its surroundings.

The house is carefully arranged around the plot, which includes an outgrowth from the 'Utrechtse Heuvelrug' dune on the north side, to maximize for the natural views. The architects arranged the home so that the two volumes it is comprised of look towards the north and east sides; in other words, towards the dune and the open space at the front of the site.

A courtyard, which is bordered by the garage and garden walls that stretch around it, is the only area in which nature experiences intervention by man.
