Experimental Drug Portraits

This Drugs Photography Series Mixes Illicit Chemicals with Film

When it comes to drugs, there always seems to be a thin veil of taboo surrounding anything related to the issue but if you look at it using a different perspective you may see that there is also beauty as this drugs photography series portrays.

For this unique project, photographer Sarah Schoenfeld decided to play chemist and combine various drugs with negative film and capture the reactions. And as you can see, they are absolutely stunning.

Schoenfeld squeezed drops of both legal and illegal liquid drugs such as cocaine, crystal meth, ecstasy, heroin and LSD -- among others -- onto negative film which had already been exposed. The drug-coated drops then altered the coating of the film to produce the psychedelic nature of this drugs photography series.
