Kid-Friendly DIY Clothing Kits

Almaborealis' Puzzleware Helps Kids Sew Their Own Clothes

Sewing clothing from scratch may seem like a daunting task for a beginner but design studio Almaborealis intentionally created its DIY clothing kits so that kids can assemble their own clothes. Puzzleware is a project that was inspired by early learning theories like loose parts play and its tactile format is geared towards kids between the ages of four to 12.

The kits consist of colorful and 100% biodegradable Scottish lambswool, which simplifies the sewing process since the pieces are already shaped and designed with holes for lacing. True to its name, Puzzleware challenges kids to piece the different parts together to create garments that range from functional to fantastical, or somewhere in between.
