Artist John Margaritis has partnered with American apparel brand Dickies in an installation entitled 'SUN DYED IN TEXAS.' The installation sits on private ground in the desert of Marfa, Texas, and features a house-shaped sculpture along with a billboard that reads "another day in paradise." The two structures are covered with Dickies fabric and the intention is to see how the fabric will change over time from the hot weather conditions.
The installation merges art, fashion, and architecture and marks Dickies 100 year anniversary. John Margaritis was inspired by Dickies' vintage clothing pieces, and how well they have lasted over the years. He wants to explore this idea of durability by testing the material in this installation. Texas was the perfect location for the installation as Dickies is based in the state and its climate is ideal for the experiment. The project will open to the public in August and will feature a Dickies pop-up shop.Photo Credits: designboom, instagram
