With the launch of its armored vehicle prototype for Enigma, Emirates Defense Technology is hoping to appeal to armies inside and outside of the UAE. The 8x8 vehicle was put on display at the International Defence and Security Exhibition and this summer, it will undergo trials with the UAE military before it goes to be manufactured.
Like any industry, customization is really what really makes the Enigma stand apart from other armored vehicles. EDT's company’s chief executive, Mohamed Al Suwaidi notes: "You can change the weapon system on top. We have manufacturing licence agreements with different companies to design, develop and manufacture the armour here in the UAE as a UAE product." Combining design with technology and custom services, the Enigma proves that off-the-shelf designs just aren't going to cut it anymore, even for military use.
