Developing new ways of upcycling, the designers from YEAYEA, a studio based in Leipzig, Germany, transformed data trash into the Data pendant light.
The Data pendant light is made completely of shredded CDs and DVDs--without any glue, resin or other additional materials. The aluminum coating of the CDs/DVDs reflects and distributes the light of the energy-saving lamp almost perfectly, and produces a cozy and warm atmosphere as well.
Implications - As environmental issues become prioritized in communities, consumers are eager to adopt green habits in their lifestyles. They demand products that will help them reduce their carbon footprints through their environmentally sound production and function. Companies can appeal to eco-conscious demographics by incorporating eco-friendly methods and designs into their practice.
