With restaurant locations in Paris, London, Barcelona, New York and Saint Petersburg, Dans le Noir offers unique dining experiences around the globe where diners are served in pitch black rooms by legally blind employees.
This results in a peculiar, memorable dining experience for the patrons -- who can't so much as see their own hands in front of them -- and results in heightened sensory awareness while also giving them a sense of what it's like living without sight. At the same time, it offers a unique employment opportunity for the blind staff.
Diners are prohibited from bringing in devices that create light, including cell phones, which must be turned off, in order to maintain the authenticity for fellow diners.
Dans le Noir has expanded the restaurant line to include two spa locations, in Paris and in Kiev in the Ukraine, where all services are performed in the dark by blind employees.
