Eco-Friendly Wax Fixtures

The Speliothem Lamp by Daniel Kamp Does More than Illuminating

The New Zealand-based industrial designer Daniel Kamp designed a lamp entitled The Speliothem Lamp to send a message about the use of waste. This project features a lighting piece that, when used, creates wax sculptures.

Similar to an hourglass, this art piece lets wax pass from one side to another as time and heat increases. To ensure the piece does not make a mess, Kamp inserted a halogen bulb into a glass tube that has a small hole on its bottom to allow the melting wax to fall on the floor of the piece, not the floor of your home.

"The driving aim of this project was to create a piece that would send a message concerning the potential of converting ‘waste outputs’ into constructive outputs," explains Daniel Kamp on his website.
