Stress-Reducing Lights

Damjan Stankovic's Eko Traffic Light

A winner at this year’s Red Dot Design, Serbian industrial designer Damjan Stankovic’s red light redesign features a simple circular countdown system that is claimed to reduce traffic stress and is environmentally-friendly.

Easily installed onto existing traffic lights, the Eko Light eliminates the guesswork involved in determining how long before the next green light appears, reducing anxiety. Because the red countdown bar swivels out to show you exactly how long you have to wait, drivers can also turn off vehicles while waiting. Pedestrians also benefit from knowing the waiting time, reducing accidents rate caused by the rush to beat the light.
