Dala by Stephen Burks is a outdoor furniture series made out of a unique material: food and drink packaging. A fun and colorful collection, it strikes a beautiful balance between culturally rich, environmentally sound and commercially viable elements, which is often perceived as nigh impossible in the industry. The New York-based designer is known for his socially conscious and sustainable practices when it comes to his creations.
Designed for outdoor furniture manufacturer Dedon, Dala by Stephen Burks is comprised of hollowed ottomans and side tables that sport lightweight aluminum frames woven through with this unique synthetic fiber. Burke writes, "The weaving was developed to combine the surface and structure of the furniture in order to eliminate material to reduce the weight and waste of the pieces."
