These Scott Sports Jerseys and Shorts Prevent Cyclist Road Rash

Athletic gear manufacturer Scott Sports is developing a range of cycling clothing, including jerseys and shorts, that are designed to protect cyclists from scratches and road rash when they fall. The clothing is reinforced in key areas using a unique blend of carbon fiber and ceramics, protecting the garment in case the rider hits the asphalt and ends up sliding across the pavement.

The protective fabric is sheathed in patterns of ceramic particles that protect the material from the intense friction that occurs when a rider hits the road. It also helps stop the fabric from tearing and exposing the rider's skin.

This cycling clothing even has antibacterial properties, helping to keep body odor in check. The jersey costs $125 while the shorts will retail for $145. Both are expected to be available for sale in late 2015.
