As part of the RIBA Shanghai 2015 Windows Project, architecture firm Urban Systems created a custom display to show off some of the best features of 3D printing. For the event, Urban Systems partnered with PH7 in order to create the undulating shape of 'Urban Nature,' a structure that totally transforms the inside and outside of the retail space. This installation is set up in Xintiandi, Shanghai, an area of China that's known to be one of the most forward-thinking when it comes to design and shopping.
Since customization is one of the most beautiful things about 3D-printing, this is an example of how valuable additive manufacturing will be for the future of retail display. Design solutions that are cost-effective, easy to prototype and remove will be a perfect fit for the retail industry.
