Gender Barrier-Breaking Brushes

Taeheon Kim Designs the Croono Makeup Brushes Towards Men

Taeheon Kim is a graduate of Central Saint Martins and his latest piece is the Croono makeup brush designed to breach gender confinement. The piece redefines masculinity through a simple product -- the Croono is a brush set that is equipped with a single handle and four different magnetic brushes in a variety of sizes. The colors include metallic gold, silver, and bronze. Kim explains that the modular set of brushes challenge day-to-day objects to define masculinity itself and that he is curious in how designers can play a positive role in this aspect.

Kim noticed the rise in demand for men's grooming products in recent years and wanted to create something that enables comfort for men in participating. The Croono is packaged within an oak wooden box with the aforementioned handle and four brush heads that all boast a geometric design.
