Packaging provider Jones Packaging and mobile marketing specialist Tuku joined forces to create an inventive new CPG packaging system.
While QR codes and NFC tags are sometimes used at a retail level, it is most often in the design of the physical spaces themselves, rather than the products being sold within them. This new packaging system makes it possible for consumer packaged goods to be integrated with technology to send out messages, promotions and offers, effectively selling themselves to interested consumers.
Shoppers with NFC-enabled mobile devices are able to tap or scan a package in order to receive a message relating to a particular product. The system has been designed in such a way so that messages can be customized in real-time and changed for specific dates and times.
