Crossing America on Horseback

Cowboy's Point: Enjoy Life in the Moment

One day Oregon rancher Bill Inman got tired of all the depressing news on the TV and he got on his horse Blackie, as he often does, and started riding; but this time he didn't stop. 1,700 miles down the trail later in Kansas, Inman is about halfway through the country and trying to prove a point, "Sometimes people are going so fast in pursuit of happiness, that often times they pass it right by," he said.

"Inman, 48, started June 2 from his hometown of Lebanon, Ore., and is halfway through his cross-country trek dubbed Uncovering America by Horseback," Yahoo News reported.

"His wife, Brenda, also 48, drives ahead in a pickup and horse trailer filled with water and provisions for Blackie, three dogs and the couple.

"They estimate the journey will cost them $45,000. They want to make a documentary film and write a book, and a filmmaker and Web site operator are tagging along."

I think this guy is great, if you can still cross America on horseback, the questions should be why aren't more people doing it and how much longer will it even be possible?
