Flour-Coated Portraits

This Photography Series Features Powder-Covered Human Portraits

Photographer Emilie Mori created this series of flour-covered human portraits which uses actual flour powder. The artists begins each portrait by coating her subjects in an edible powder. Then, the subjects fling their heads back and forth while the photographer captures still images of them.

Each of the photographs reveals an interesting view of a flour-covered human whose face is often hidden by a cloud of dust. Both males and female subjects star in this photography collection. Each of the subjects has long hair, which allows the flour to be flung in an elegant and random stream.

The series titled 'Explosive' aims to evoke both sexuality and spirituality within the viewer. The images are photographed against a dark backdrop that enhances the white flour and engulfs each frame with a surreal and mystical fog.
