Balenciaga introduces a look at its 52nd Couture collection which is defined by unique elements including 3D-printing processes. It comes in the form of a Joan of Arc-like armor dress along with trompe l'oeil denim that is detailed with hand-painted accents followed by fur and leather materials. The show took place on July 5th at the house's 10 Avenue George V atelier and couture salon in Paris.
The show kicked off with an archival look that took a creative turn by Demna as he interprets a look by the house's founder Cristóbal Balenciaga. The house explains that the show was "Taking inspiration from a piece by British painter and draughtsman Lucian Freud, the "Coup De Vent" overcoat is designed to look like it's blowing in the wind. An innovative knitted material is bonded to the inside of the wool and allows the piece to be shaped by hand using heated irons to reflect the wind's momentum. This process requires two days of work and makes each piece unique."
