Some of us remember our college days fondly; some of us remember them with a disappointed shake of the head; some of us don't remember them at all. Whatever your college experience, I bet you wish that this course in Beyonce was available when you were a wide-eyed 19-year-old freshman.
The course, which was developed by Kevin Allred, will not teach you how to become Sasha Fierce, nor will it teach you how to wake up flawless. Rather, the course, which is titled 'Feminist Perspectives: Politicizing Beyoncé' will explore "American race, gender, and sexual politics" through the lens of the pop superstar's career and performances. They will be analyzed in conjunction with feminist texts by the likes of Bell Hooks and Alice Walker.
Ultimately, Allred hopes to encourage people to think critically about media, rather than carelessly consuming it.
