Architectural firm 'Chu Chih-Kang Space Design' recently opened a subterranean bookstore that is designed to take customers on a cosmic journey. Although bookstores have become a less popular destination for consumers, many people still enjoy the feeling of browsing through a wide variety of literature. Chu Chih-Kang wanted to give customers a unique bookstore experience by drawing on the work of the Sichuan people.
The 'Fangsuo Bookstore' is located in Chengdu, which is the capital of China's Sichuan province. The space is inspired by the work of famous Sichuan authors who explored the idea of the cosmos. When customers arrive at the bookstore, they begin their cosmic journey by entering through a meteor-shaped doorway. The space then opens up to an enormous underground bookstore that features cosmic decorations throughout.
