This Colorful Swimming Pool is Located on the Site of an Old Hospital

'ASYLYM' is a colorful swimming pool located on the site of the former New York City Lunatic Asylum. Although Roosevelt Island is now a residential area, the island was formerly know as a place of isolation and quarantine. This unconventional art installation pays homage to the history of the island in a colorful way.

The colorful swimming pool is an art installation by Minneapolis-based designer 'HOTxTEA.' The installation consists of a deck and pool coated in a layer of rainbow ombre. In total, 130 gallons of paint were required to completely cover the pool. The visually striking design serves as an interesting contrast to the history of the former New York City Lunatic Asylum.

The technicolor pool provides a unique commentary on New York City's changing urban landscape.
