Coffee-Stained Coasters

The Coffee Lids Coasters Leave Imprinted Coffee Stains on the Table

The Coffee Lids coasters are a celebration -- if not a stark reminder of what we take for granted -- by Jennifer Daniel. Daniel created the coasters through Coastermatic, which prints pictures taken by users on the social photo sharing site Instagram, as a way to highlight the temporary, single-purpose nature of the rarely reused object.

Costing $25 for a set of four ceramic coasters, the coffee lids come in a variety of designs, such as one with a lipstick mark left around the mouthpiece, one with the lift tab left open and two others with brown puddles of coffee stained on the lid. The design by Daniel is intended to celebrate "the everyday morning tradition she takes for granted—coffee to go." The coasters are sure to be a hit with the cleaners once they see a handful of these lying around unattended.
