Google Cloud announced that it expands its data operations by creating several new cloud regions, which will become operational in the next number of months or years.
The new cloud regions include Chile, Germany and Saudi Arabia, and each of them will have three availability zones. The new cloud regions cap off a big year for Google Cloud, which included cloud regions going live in Indonesia, South Korea, Las Vegas, and Salt Lake City. This year brought Google’s total regions to 24 with a total of 73 availability zones.
The expansion will help Google increase its cloud capacity and compete with other companies including AWS and Microsoft Azure. Google has also made great progress in cloud capacity, where three years ago the organization only had 13 regions.
