The notion of a circular skyscraper might seem odd and unconventional, however, architecture studio ZN Era has developed a concept to implement such a structure in downtown Dubai. The practice envisions this potential future development to encircle the Burj Khalifa—a skyscraper globally known to be the tallest building in the world. Burj Khalifa has a total height of 829.8 meters and was completed in 2010.
Digital renditions of ZN Era's circular skyscraper depict a 550-meter tall structure with 3,000 meters in circumference that encircles the Burj Khalifa. The architecture studio intends this innovative building to be mixed-use and to feature residential, public, commercial, and cultural spaces.
ZN Era names this project the 'Downtown Circle' and equates it to "a continuous metropolis."
