In early May, Harper’s Bazaar invited makeup artists from 20 brands to create something special for the 20th anniversary of its Chinese editions.
The above gallery displays the motif of oriental looks created by various makeup artists including Arianne Damboise from Benefit. She turned the funky Benefit girl Gabbi into a graceful ‘New Shanghai Lady.’ She said the whole idea was inspired by a unique old Shanghai calendar from the 1930s.
Helena Rubinstein’s Charlotte Tilbury showed a distinguished look through dark wine-colored lips and green hued eye shadow. And the facial costumes of Chinese opera gave Estee Lauder’s Zhang Qiang an idea to create his own style by adding red on the model’s smoky eyes.
