Jacque Vasta, a major in the United States Air Force, has spearheaded the creation and roll-out of an innovative new child care app that is designed to make it easier than ever for military families to go about sub-letting child care spaces.
The Kinderspot app, which is available to families stationed at select Air Force bases, is described by Vasta in a press release as 'similar to what you would use for Airbnb, but instead of subleasing your house or apartment, you're subleasing your child's spot at the [child development center].'
Currently, military families still have to pay for child development center fees even for the weeks that their children is away, such as when they're on vacation or the service member is stationed elsewhere on a temporary basis. With the Kinderspot app, families can sublet their child's spot to another child, enabling them to save money for the time that their own child isn't using the child care facility.
What's more, the service also helps families on a waiting list for a full-time child care spot to get their child the care and attention they need while they wait to secure a more permanent arrangement.
