A new website called Squads was created to give cheerleaders and dancers a place where they could socialize with others across the world and view live webcasts of cheerleading events.
Squads was able to do a webcast of the Spirit Celebration Fall Festival held in Denton, TX on November 16th. Over 25,000 people watched online as cheerleaders tumbled, stunted and cheered their way to first place.
Hard-working parents who are unable to make the competitions usually have to wait several weeks before they can see their child’s performance. Now they can watch a competition on the same day or the day after the cheer event has taken place.
Justin Carrier, co-author of "Complete Cheerleading" and executive director of strategic development for NCA/NDA, announced the creation of the International All-Levels Championship, where the winner will be chosen from competitors in a web broadcast of the event.
Cheercasting will greatly help millions of cheerleaders around the world be able to watch competitions that otherwise would never be available to them. Competitors and supporters will no longer be limited by geography. Now a Japanese or British cheerleader will be able to watch an American competition that was held thousands of miles away at the simple click of a button.
