The Chanel Fall/Winter 2013 Couture Show is Stylishly Utilitarian

As popular as the apocalypse has been as of late, there is nothing that could have made it as stunning as Chanel’s Fall/Winter 2013 Couture show. Designer Karl Lagerfeld didn’t disappoint, and made the end of the world seem sort of fabulous.

With a backdrop of a futuristic city, and the foreground being a mix of rubble and dirt, the contrast was perfectly matched against the primped models. There were an incredibly large number of 68 different looks, and all the models had Mohawk-esque hair combined with incredibly high cheekbones. The most interesting distinction throughout the show was the mix of modern vs. old Chanel.

Using the original Chanel suit and the classic tweed as inspiration and combining them into new updated versions, the mix between old and new was paired perfectly on the runway as well as in the props that were used.
