Champions by Konstantin Grcic Has a Need for Speed

Gearheads are going to fall bum over noggin for Champions by Konstantin Grcic. Champions is a set of tables designed to look like Formula 1 racecars.

All of the graphics on the tables are made up, and are not inspired by any actual Formula 1 cars racing today. This may disappoint true fans, but Grcic argues that all of the graphics on the actual racecars are also made up. The artist argues that the whole purpose of putting the graphics on cars is to give them the illusion of speed.

Sports and design don't really go together, which is why Champions by Konstantin Grcic is so awesome. If this were just a collection of colorful tables, I wouldn't be so impressed. The fact that Grcic used professional sports as his inspiration, something rarely done by designers, is what pushes Champions from third-place afterthought to first-place show-stealer.
