Lunchbox is a new small-format cashierless store concept from Retail Business Services, the services company of Ahold Delhaize USA, that enables shoppers to scan themselves in, shop and walk out. The frictionless experience was devised as a shopping alternative that helps consumers access fresh, healthy food without the hassle of long lines or traditional checkout experiences.
The 24/7 format makes it effortless for shoppers to get grab-and-go snacks, salads for quick meals, as well as other kitchen staples as a quick stop on their journey home.
The store technology is currently being tested at Retail Business Services’ office in Quincy, Massachusetts. Notably, Paul Scorza, Retail Business Services’ CIO notes that "The solution carries a lean cost and can be implemented in a matter of weeks."
