The Adaptive car headlights from BMW are designed to increase the safety between the driver and the world around them with smart sensors to measure speed and steering. Using this information, the smart Adaptive Headlights are able to rotate left or right using electric motors, which shines more light on the road ahead where it is needed most. Since driving on winding roads at night can be tricky, the headlights are even able to take the curve of the road into consideration, no matter the incline.
In order to avoid blinding drivers in oncoming cars, the Adaptive Headlights are only activated in certain modes, which excludes reversing, when the car is stationary and when backing out of a parallel parking spot.
