Daylight-Filtering Architecture

Balance Associates Architects Builds the Capitol Hill Residence

Balance Associates Architecture firm has built the Capitol Hill Residence, which sits on top of a hill with stunning views. The team has also designed the house so that it is private, while still filtering as much daylight through as possible.

Most of the house is made from a concrete material, along with the massive windows positioned in various strategic positions in certain spots. According to The Contemporist, "sustainable systems include a rain water catchment system in the form of an entry water feature, solar panels, and solar shading in addition to [the] standard sustainable building practices such as high levels of insulation, low-e glazing, and selection of environmentally friendly materials." With these additional features, the Capitol Hill Residence both looks good and reduces the carbon emissions let out into the environment.
