Desserto was founded in n Mexico by entrepreneurs López Velarde and Marte Cázarez and are the first to create cactus-based leather without the use of toxic chemicals, phthalates, or PVC. The two opted for this particular plant due to its sustainability.
"We identified that the problem of environmental pollution was serious. The idea of using this raw material was conceived because this plant does not need any water to grow, and there is plenty of it throughout the Mexican Republic," López Velarde explained.
