Bushfire recovery efforts are of special importance as Australia is facing one of its most disastrous fires in decades. Different communities and world leaders are jumping on the bandwagon to assist with resources and money. One of the more creative endeavors is launched by Jez Kabanov who grew up in Springwood — "one of New South Wales' most fire-prone regions."
Jez created an interactive bushfire recovery effort through a game. The game is billed as "cute, light, and deadly serious." In it, players control native wildlife and each animal has special abilities. Kangaroos can jump over obstacles, for example. The objective of the game is to search for "survivors, save homes, and attempt to fight back against the approaching inferno."
The game is said to raise awareness and funds for NSW Wildlife Information, Rescue and Education Service (WIRES).
