Those living in rural Australia were able to receive a burrito in record time, with the 'Project Wing' team's burrito delivery drone, which was helping to feed the mouths of hungry consumers, while testing a new delivery service.
The Project Wing team partnered with Mexican food chain Guzman y Gomez for this creative experiment, which used a drone to complete orders to those who would have had to wait an average of 40 minutes to receive the food by car. The testing provided the company with insights into pre-configured drone routing, in addition to various in-restaurant and technology-based techniques which helped the consumer receive the food while it was still hot.
The team hopes the burrito delivery drone can further expand its services in the future, enabling restaurant owners to focus on making food, instead of "complex delivery logistics."
