Artist and designer Brandon Martin-Anderson uses complex routing technology to not only highlight some of the best routes for cyclists in major metropolises, but he does so in a simplistically artistic method that resembles blood-pumping veins. Martin-Anderson morphed the visualisations into eye-catching videos that highlight major cities across the United States including such cyclist-savvy spots as Portland, Oregon and San Francisco, California.
The astounding designs are created by using the base maps available as open-source data to any residents; from here, the artist created the renderings in a way that not only can be compared to veins, but more accurately to the outstretching branches of a tree. The complete collection of creations can be found on Martin-Anderson's personal website, with new renderings popping every now and then.
