This Seafood-Inspired Brew is Infused with a Dozen Boiled Lobsters

Italy-based brewery Birrificio delDucato has collaborated with Maine's Oxbow Brewing to produce a line of beers made from boiled lobsters. On the east coast of the United States, cold beer and fresh lobster are two summertime staples. This unusual beer manages to combine the two classic flavors into a zesty adult beverage.

The 'Saison Dell'Aragosta' brew is made by using a giant mesh bag to cook the lobsters while the beer is brewing. The meat is then removed from the boiled lobsters and the shells are used for the rest of the brewing process. In total, the brewers used about 12 Maine hard-shell lobsters.

While the combination of flavors may sound unusual, the lobster taste itself is subtle and not overly fishy. Overall, the beer is is intended to be salty and sour, with a bit of a briny element.
