The Boeing Loyal Wingman drone is an unmanned combat aircraft that comes as the first aircraft that has been designed, engineered and manufactured in Australia in more than half a century. The aircraft features an advanced jet-powered design that maintains an ultra-slim profile that is achieved using resin-infused single composite piece that's the largest ever created by Boeing. The drone is intended to be used alongside manned and unmanned aircraft, and will further extend their capabilities when it comes to combat or reconnaissance missions.
The Boeing Loyal Wingman drone was touted byAir Marshal Mel Hupfeld, Chief of the Royal Australian Air Force who said, "This project is an excellent example of innovation through collaboration and what can be achieved working together with defense industry. This demonstrates the importance of the relationship Air Force has with Boeing Australia and defense industry more broadly. I look forward to exploring the capabilities this aircraft may bring to our existing fleet in the future."
