This Painted Model Supports the Subway Therapy Project

Renowned bodypainting artist Ish Peralta went beneath the bustling streets of Manhattan to show his support for the Subway Therapy project. The project features Post-It notes that have taken over a wall in the Union Square subway station. The messages on the wall are of love, support and unity. Peralta's concept was to bring even more attention to that project by camouflaging a model into the wall in a pose that made her look like she was screaming to symbolize different communities coming together to make voices heard. When Peralta contacted model Emma Vega about the project, she instantly fell in love with the idea. He painted her live at Union Square and invited people who where passing by to leave a sticky note with a message they would like to have painted on Vega's bare skin.

Messages in English, Spanish, Japanese, and Portuguese were carefully painted onto the model in a trompe l'oeil style that delighted and astounded thousands of commuters. The project not only highlighted the idea that the wall brings people of all races, genders, religions and sexualities together but also gives them a voice and a way to express themselves.

The artist's end goal with this project is to sell prints of the final image and donate a portion of the proceeds to The Human Rights Campaign and Planned Parenthood. The prints will be available for sale on Makeupartish.com and are sure to become a must-have item.
