Many of the homes in the Greater London Area are built in the Victorian style, but 'Black Ridge House' brings a touch of country living into the city. The home extension, which was designed by Neil Dusheiko Architects, features a black wood cladding and a broadly angled roof that make the home reminiscent of cabins or cottages nestled into the forest.
Though country inspiration might lead to a quaint and traditional building in lesser hands, the architects did a great job of keeping those old-fashioned undertones while still creating a distinctly modern design. The lower story of the extension is indeed cabin-like thanks to its gabled roof and tall stovepipe, but the upper volume is uniquely angled and augmented by a bold window that follows the shape of the roof.
