Kudos to Danish architects Bjarke Ingels Group for winning the competition to design the Astana National Library in Kazakhstan.
Titled "BIG," the Bjarke Ingels Group design incorporates four forms: A circle, a rotunda, an arch and a yurt. These form create an "infinite loop" which has a single double-looping surface plane that encases the entire building.
Bjarke Ingels Group was one of five pre-selected architect led teams. Their "BIG" design beat out 19 other entrants including heavyweight Zaha Hadid.
