Berlin stove tiles are designed to help wood-burning stoves heat homes more effectively. The tiles were designed by Daniel Becker Design Studio and feature a three-dimensional pattern. Apart from looking good, the pattern helps the tiles lose heat faster, which in turn helps the home get warmer quicker.
Kaufmann Keramik and Brunner Kachelöfen (German stove and fireplace companies) also worked on the project with the Daniel Becker Design Studio. Many "design" fireplaces put form over function, but the Berlin stove tiles have managed to strike a perfect balance. Being able to heat a home more efficiently means that less wood has to be used, which in turn means that less trees need to be cut down and burned. The Berlin stove tiles were shortlisted for the[D3] Contest for young designers at trade fair imm cologne.
