Friday Escobedo works in collaboration with Workstead to create the Bergen building, which is a residential structure featuring 105 units along the tree-lined streets in Brooklyn's Boerum Hill. The two wanted to reflect the paradigm changes of the urban living ideals. Frida Escobedo was inspired by the brownstone bay windows which are classic to the neighborhood and the celosia facade along the building honors this history.
It forms a balanced geometric and natural stone masonry that complements the heritage elements around the area. Workstead uses geometric forms and natural coatings at the interior to complement the exterior notion. This brings forth a seamless feel of luxury through the cohesive and soft delicate decor to bridge indoor and outdoor components.
