At Banksy's Dismaland, a sinister castle looms over an amusement park that features a giant pinwheel, a metal horse, and a cut-up truck twisted into a roller coaster-like shape.
Because of the famed street artist's notorious secrecy, little to nothing is known about Banksy's Dismaland. The beginnings of the exhibition were sighted over the fence of a vacant lot which used to house an outdoor pool in the British seaside town of Weston-super-Mare. Visitors to the site took pictures and posted them online, and the connection was drawn to a previous Banksy piece that featured the slogan "Welcome to Dismaland - Life Isn't Always a Fairytale."
For an artist to create such a large, immersive exhibit is rare, but considering the graffiti master's fame, unknown identity and penchant for political commentary and criticism, Banksy's Dismaland is a project that very much fits into the artist's body of work and ethos.
