Balzac's Coffee Roasters Focuses on Sustainability and Quality

Named after Honoré de Balzac, a French Novelist and iconic coffee connoisseur, Balzac's Coffee Roasters celebrates the rich history of coffee with an artisanal spirit. Founded by Dianna Olsen, this coffee giant got its start after Olsen found a kindred spirit in Balzac. Olsen would go on to tour France and San Francisco to learn the craft of coffee roasting and bean selection, and would eventually be trained at the West Coast Specialty Coffee Training Institute.

The first Balzac's Coffee Roasters was opened in Stratford, Ontario in 1996 and the various shops have continued on the same values established by Olsen in Stratford. By focusing on Artisinal, sustainable, local and natural business practices, Balzac's is able to ensure each cup they pour is both delicious and ethical. This sense of ethics is resounded in each cup of coffee by Balzac's Coffee Roasters as all coffee, sugar and cocoa is Fair Trade Organic and all milk used i organic and locally sourced.
