John Deere revealed a fully autonomous tractor at CES 2022 and it features the company's 8R tractor with a TruSet-enabled chisel plow, GPS guidance system and new advanced technologies.
The fully autonomous tractor boasts six pairs of stereo cameras for 360-degree obstacle detection and calculating distance. Images that are captured by the camera go through a deep neural network that classifies pixel by pixel in a split-second to determine the movement of the vehicle.
The fully autonomous tractor from John Deere is ready for production and it will be available to farmers later this year. According to the company, "The autonomous tractor serves a specific purpose: feeding the world." With the global population set to grow from eight to 10 billion people by 2050, the global food demand will increase by 50%.
