Nike's 'The Nature of Motion' exhibit features several unique designs intended for athletes to improve their performance; its chair for athletes is one of the most impressive.
The carbon fiber chair contains electronics that either heat or cool athletes during exercise breaks. It uses sensing technology, heating and cooling air that controls the temperature of the athlete using the chair. The technology allows the core temperature of the athlete to lower while still maintaining warmth in certain muscles. As research shows that "intense bursts" of exercise followed by "short periods of rest" are very beneficial, this chair is intended to help with that process.
Greg Lynn, the architect that created this chair, believes that it will allow for sports teams and athletes to have a performance advantage over competitors.
