Jay L. Clendenin Captured the Rio Competitors for the LA Times

Although the Rio games have come to an end, many are still celebrating the events, including the readers of the LA Times who can there find a series of commemorative athlete photography lensed by Jay L. Clendenin.

With the photographer, who is also based in Los Angeles, having much experience behind him of capturing some of the biggest celebrities in stunning lights, he again proves his ability by showing the Rio competitors in a way that's both artful and insightful. In addition to this, he was responsible for photographing the 2012 athletes as well, using a "4-by-5-inch field camera and a 100-plus-year-old Petzval lens."

His athlete photography from this year is similar to that of the past in many ways, with mostly black and white images showing exaggerated contrasts between the shades that intermingles contemporary quality with a vintage aesthetic.
