Donatella Versace described her Atelier Versace Fall 2013 Couture collection as a return to "real glamour." For this collection, Versace’s definition of beauty is perfection—immaculate hair, styling and clothing. This vision certainly comes through and in this spirit, the show was opened by the iconic 90s supermodel Naomi Campbell.
Although perfection is typically associated with balance and symmetry, Versace’s garments are anything but. The garments are asymmetric, but not angular. Cutouts on the garments follow the organic lines of the models bodies, and deliberately reveal glimpses of skin.
Some of the clothes seem to float and barely cling on to the models, revealing lacy brasseries and lengths of leg below. For one reason or another, this collection is bound to elicit stares of awe.
