Revamped Luxury Art Hotels

Stockholm's At Six Hotel is in a Former Bank Headquarters

Brunkebergstorg Square in Stockholm was once a relatively staid public area flanked by a brutalist bank headquarters, but Universal Design Studio recently remade the building into a luxury artscape and inn called At Six Hotel. The hotel houses one of Europe's largest and most significant hotel art collections, with works by famous contemporary artists like James Plensa, Olafur Eliasson, Julian Opie, Sol Le Witt, Tacita Dean, Spencer Finch, Richard Long, and Marijke van Warmerdam.

Thanks to its excellently curated works, At Six Hotel is up for several accolades through the upcoming AHEAD Europe hospitality awards. The hotel has been nominated to the shortlist in five categories: Urban Hotel (Conversion), Restaurant, Lobby or Public Spaces, Guestrooms and Bar, and Club or Lounge. Considering that the hotel was once the bustling headquarters of Swedbank, such lauding is all the more impressive.
