Asia Aerospace City is an aerospace industry hub in Malaysia -- still in the conception stage -- that will be complete with research and development facilities, offices, academic campuses, a convention center and residential areas. It will be designed by the Atkins engineering firm.
The development will span 3.28 square kilometers and will be connected to the airport via a light rail system. Electric buses will also be used to transport people to and from the area. It will be located just 20 minutes from the Kuala Lumpur city center.
Asia Aerospace City will comply to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standards for green construction. It will be able to generate solar power, harvest rainwater and run in an energy-efficient manner.
The project is a key component of Malaysia's Economic Transformation Plan and its aim of becoming a self-sufficient industrialized nation.
